About

“I relish the challenge of crafting impactful print and digital graphics and media”

I used to work in the insurance and financial industry. Having worked with some great people, I eventually realised that it was not the career for me. There has always been a creative professional bursting to get out. In 2008, after a brief two year stint as a full-time musician, (a whole other story!) I jumped into a career in design and haven’t looked back.

I am currently working at TUS (Technological university of the Shannon) where I work daily on a variety of projects including event design, branding & identity, editorial design –  college prospectus, brochures etc, poster design, pull-up banners, motion design, web banners, display ads, social ads, motion design etc. All of this has afforded me the opportunity to utilise and improve all the skills needed in every aspect of design, including Adobe software- Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Animate, After Effects, Audition and Premier Pro.

One of my main roles is overviewing brand compliance across the university through online and onsite workshops, along with individual consultations.

I have strong communication, listening and presentation skills which I believe to be essential in this industry. Having worked in an educational setting for the last nine years, I have developed a strong desire to teach and impart my knowledge and experience. To this end, I have recently lectured on a part-time basis for Dublin Design Institute, where I lectured online modules for the graphic and interior design departments. I supervised dissertations for the contextual studies module of the full-time Inter Design programme, along with lecturing on the part-time programme. For graphics, I lectured on a typography module.

This role provided me with great experience in the online teaching environment. The students came from all ages and backgrounds, affording me the opportunity to learn how to engage with a really diverse student intake. I really enjoyed the experience and it confirmed, not only my ability to deliver the material effectivley, but that I would really enjoy teaching, imparting knowledge and engaging with students.
